An “Average” American Budget?
I came across this interesting chart a few weeks back. It’s from “Visual Economics” and lays out the results of a recent Dept of Labor survey.
It was interesting to look over from a budgeter’s perspective.
Please remember the giant grain-of-salt you need as you look over any statistical data. This is supposedly an “average,” 48.8 year old, home-owning, 2.5 member family, bringing home roughly $4,000 a month (after taxes). I’m sure you vary from that in some way, but it’s still interesting to look at the percentages they found.
